Been working on this on/off for weeks... he looks way out of character smiling and holding flowers I know xD reason he's smiling and holding his hand out is because I had originally drawn Rin giving him some flowers :3 however she didn't turn out too well and the piece looked stronger without her. Also I was going to draw Jaken and Ah Un in the background but turns out I was too lazy lol :iconfacepalmplz:
After this changed of plan I decided on the name 'Reveries' for the work as he could be reminiscing Rin, Kagura or other happier experiences in his journeys... but who knows what's going through Lord Sesshomaru's mind ;)

Hello there! I'm here from ProjectComment to provide a substitute comment for Comment Tag! The word is "sky," and you clearly had a lot of beautiful landscapes pieces, but I wanted to go for something a little less obvious :)

This piece has a lot of lovely elements to it: the colors, the composition, the pose, and the way you use textures to achieve different looks in the fabric versus the trees versus the clouds, etc. I also like the way that you've put your character in the middle ground by putting a few blades of tall grass in front of him and slightly out of focus. That creates a really nice sense of depth perception!

I think the main challenge in a piece like this, and when you have sunsets in general, is the lighting/atmosphere that sky creates. You've nailed the color of the sky, definitely, but the effect of the kind of light has been lost on Lord Sesshomaru. Because of the way light works physically, the red of the sky should show on the main subject a bit more. Unless there's an imaginary light source floating directly in front of him, there should also be some heavier shadows and only a bit of highlighting. I found this anime example, which might help you visualize how to apply sunset color palettes to your character. All that being said, you could get away with some of the colors you have already chosen if you chose to lighten up the background overall! Here's another great example, one that's a bit closer to your color palette as it is now. I think if you were to use something like that, you could keep more of the stunning purples and blues and such that you already have in his robes :)

All in all, I think this is a wonderful piece! You have a lot of great technique and work shown here, and it's clear you really thought this project through as you were working on it. Keep up the great work!!
